MeDirect Bank Malta on Wednesday announced the nomination of Philip C English to the role of Non-Executive Director at MDB Group and its subsidiary, MeDirect Bank Malta.

Dr English, who is based in New York, is a Research Associate Professor of Finance at the Fox School of Business, Temple University, USA.

He has taught for 30 years in higher education focusing on portfolio management, security valuation, financial markets and institutions and commercial banking. He is currently the Executive Director of the Fischer-Shain Center for Financial Services, a donor-funded research, outreach and instructional center focused on commercial banking at the Fox School and an executive member of its Board.

Dr English maintains an independent consulting firm specialising in finance instruction, training and consulting arranged through GLG, an international consultancy.

He has created and delivered programmes covering such topics as quantitative methods of investment analysis, the valuation of mortgage servicing rights, asset and liability management for financial institutions, credit analysis and credit risk management, counterparty credit risk assessment, capital budgeting in a real options framework, investment performance attribution/assessment and cost-of-capital determination.

He served on the Board of Directors of CFA Society Washington, the Washington, D.C. chapter of the CFA Institute, and on the Investment Management Committee for Raffa Wealth Management, a Washington area investment management company specialising in investment management for foundations and high net worth individuals.

Dr English holds a PhD in International Finance from the University of South Carolina, USA and has earned the right to use the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) designation of the CFA Institute. He holds a B.S. in Management, a B.S. in Finance and an MBA from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, USA.
