The Grand Master of the Sovereign Order of Malta, Fra’ John Dunlap, received European Parliament President Roberta Metsola, this morning at the Magistral Palace in Rome.
The courtesy visit provided "an opportunity to exchange views" on the ongoing activities of the Order of Malta, which operates humanitarian and medical programmes in over 130 countries worldwide, the Order said.
Ms Metsola expressed her appreciation for the Order’s work in complex and high-risk contexts, including Ukraine and Gaza.
Discussions also touched on the current international landscape, with both sides expressing concern over ongoing global crises and underlining the importance of a return to stability and respect for international humanitarian law.
The meeting was attended by Grand Chancellor Riccardo Paternò di Montecupo, Receiver of the Common Treasure Fra’ Francis Vassallo, and the Ambassador of the European Union to the Order of Malta, Martin Selmayr.
