Malta’s national and largest hospital, Mater Dei, will see new leadership, after a Government announcement on Monday confirmed that Engineer Keith Attard has been nominated to the role.
He takes over from Celia Falzon, who reportedly resigned due to personal reasons. She had helmed the hospital during its most difficult time in recent memory, having been appointed to the role in February 2020 right before the pandemic hit.
Ing Attard, who has over 20 years of experience in his field of engineering, has been responsible for the management of a number of projects, while also having expertise in the field of biomedical equipment and operations management.
In recent years, he served as Head of Medical Engineering within Gozo General Hospital.
Indeed, according to his public LinkedIn profile, Ing Attard served Steward Health Care Malta, the very same company that exited the country after being embroiled in scandal, between 2018 and 2023 in various capacities. He served as Project Engineer, Senior Project Manager and Head of Medical Engineering.
Ing Attard also worked within the field of engineering for several years in Australia, between 2010 and 2019.
The Minister for Health and Active Aging Jo Etienne Abela thanked Celia Falzon for her work over the last years and wished Ing Attard for his new role in the time to come.
