The Chief Executive Officer of Mater Dei Hospital, Celia Falzon, has resigned from her post, the Times of Malta informed on Friday.
It went on to cite government sources, stating that engineer Keith Attard will take over her position.
Ms Falzon reportedly resigned due to personal reasons, without giving more detail. Having been appointed to the role in February 2020, she led the hospital during arguably the most difficult and stressful period in living memory for national health services, the pandemic.
She has served within the public health sector since 2014, mainly with regards the implementation of large scale projects, such as the extension of the emergency department and reducing waiting lists at the national hospital.
