President of the European Parliament, Roebrta Metsola, has appointed Matthew Tabone as Head of Cabinet within her office.
He has served within the European Parliament for 11 years, initially joining as Head of President Metsola’s MEP office. Since her election as President, he has held key positions within her cabinet, including Head of her Private Office and Public Relations, and managing a reform for the Qatargate scandal.
For Dr Metsola, Mr Tabone is more than a trusted confidant, as he’s also her brother-in-law.
In recent years, Mr Tabone has overseen various teams within the Cabinet, notably managing a transparency reform and coordinating the President’s engagement with the European public in preparation for the European Parliament elections held last June.
Mr Tabone takes over from Leticia Zuleta De Reales Ansaldo who will be working as Director for Relations with National Parliaments within the same institution.
