Financial services veteran Massimo Debono has been appointed Senior Manager of Corporate Lending at Malta-based MeDirect Bank, it announced on Thursday.

“I always strive to give an excellent customer service,” Mr Debono said, before adding that “deciding to join MeDirect after 30 years at another local bank gave me the opportunity to achieve this.”

MeDirect’s corporate lending sector “carefully selects the segments” the bank operates in with the goal of “setting new standards of service” for its customers.

Prior to his new position at the bank, he served as Mortgage Protection Manager at HSBC Malta for more than 30 years, during which he also had a stint as Business Specialist. He is highly skilled in mortgage lending and new business development, among others.

Aside from his professional life, Mr Debono loves to travel and is an avid football fan.

Headquartered in Malta, MeDirect is a pan-European bank that has grown to become Malta’s third largest banking group in terms of total assets. It also has operations in Belgium through its subsidiary MeDirect Bank NV/SA.
