Marta Vella has been appointed the new Festival Director for popular children and youth festival, ŻiguŻajg.

Ms Vella has a vast background in the performing arts and trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London.

She has also performed in The Japanese Garden (2012), Three Sunsets (2014) and written and directed both Cookie and the Art of Bullying (2014) and Aħn’aħwajewm’aħniex? (2017), among other artistic endeavours.

“We're incredibly excited to have Marta being at the helm of ŻiguŻajg Festival, especially this year as ŻiguŻajg turns 10. So get ready for ŻiguŻajg Festival as you've never seen it before,” the Festival wrote on social media.

Fondazzjoni Kreattività also welcomed Ms Vella to the team, while thanking outgoing director Daniel Azzopardi “for his stellar work in the past few years, and augurs Marta Vella for her new position in taking over the helm of ŻiguŻajg Festival.”

Notwithstanding uncertainties related to COVID-19, the festival is expected to take place in November 2020, while its programme of events will be announced in October.
