Marisa Abela took home the coveted trophy for her portrayal of Yasmin Kara-Hanani in the third season of the BBC and HBO finance drama, which has grown in popularity for its razor-sharp take on ambition, power, and privilege in the high-stakes world of investment banking.

Speaking on stage during the ceremony, Ms Abela hinted at what’s to come for the show's future: “Season three felt like a massive step up for the show and I feel like that is continuing and continuing,” she said. “So I am excited to see the response season four gets, which we are filming right now.”

Ms Abela’s win marks a major career milestone for the Brighton-born actress, who only a few years ago was in drama school preparing for her final year. She originally had plans to study law before shifting course and applying to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA), where she secured a place at the age of 19.

Her role in Industry came early in her career, landing the part of Yasmin while still at RADA.

Prior to Industry, Ms Abela had appeared in the political thriller Cobra and the interactive romantic comedy Five Dates. Since then, her star has continued to rise, with one of her most high-profile roles to date being her portrayal of late singer Amy Winehouse in Back to Black.

This win cements her place as one of Britain’s most exciting young talents, and a name to watch in both television and film.

When she’s not writing articles at work or poetry at home, you’ll find her taking long walks in the countryside, pumping iron at the gym, caring for her farm animals, or spending quality time with family and friends. In short, she’s always on the go, drawing inspiration from the little things around her, and constantly striving to make the ordinary extraordinary.
