The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) has cancelled the B2C Gaming Service Licence for sports betting company bSupporter Limited, effective from Tuesday 28th April.
According to a description of the company published on Apollo:
“bSupporter has been developed specifically to provide sport clubs with an additional source of funding and to give players a new gaming experience with sports betting…bSupporter will not run sports betting as a "bookmaker" but as an "organizer".
“The system works similar to the lottery. Those contestants with the right results share the profit pot in proportion to their bets.”
Following the licence revocation, bSupporter Limited is no longer authorised to carry out any gaming operations, register new players or accept new customer deposits, but is required to retain and provide all registered players with access to their player accounts. It must also refund all funds to the credit of plays in line with the applicable gaming law.
Despite this, the company's website appears to be inactive.
It’s licence was granted back in 2017, and has been cancelled for having breached paragraphs 9(1)(c) and 9(1)(I) of the Malta Gaming regulations which say:
c) the Authorised Person has failed to comply with one or more applicable obligations in terms of any regulatory instrument or any other applicable law of Malta following the non-submission of the Compliance Contribution Reports for the months of January and February 2020, within the stipulated time;
l) the Authorised Person has failed to pay in a timely manner all amounts due to the Authority; in that the Authorised Person has failed to effect payment of the relevant annual licence fees and/or compliance contribution fees.
This decision may be subject to an appeal in terms of article 43 of the Gaming Act (Cap. 583).
