In 2019, the Malta Business Registry (MBR) confirmed 4,472 new commercial partnerships over the previous year, bringing total registrations up to 98,090 in 2019 from 93,559 in 2018.

The MBR has been registering a consistent increase in the number of company registrations since 2015 – a total of 21,314 registrations over four years.

In its latest Annual Report for 2019, the MBR reports that it registered a surplus of €10,191,654 for the financial year 2019. The total operating expenses amounted to €5,231,507 with an investment of €6,262,577 in fixed assets additions, while it generated an income of €15,934,040.

2019 marked the MBR’s formal de-merger from the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA), thereby expanding its operations to include new units, including a finance and administration unit, and legal and enforcement unit, among others.
