Ħamrun Spartans President Joseph Portelli has given his first and only interview since the club made history by qualifying for the UEFA Conference League League Phase – the first time a Maltese team has ever reached this stage of European competition.
Speaking exclusively to WhosWho.mt, Mr Portelli opens up about the journey that led to this breakthrough, the challenges he faced, and the vision he now has for Maltese football.
In the interview, Mr Portelli reveals the scale of his investment in his football dream – at times spending up to €1 million a year – and how this season marks a turning point, with the club finally on track to turn a profit thanks to UEFA’s prize money.
