A new direct flight link will connect Malta to the Danish city of Billund, the birthplace of Lego, starting in June 2026.

The route is part of a significant expansion by Scandinavian airline Norwegian at Billund Airport.

The low-cost carrier will operate the seasonal service once a week. This will become the third direct connection between Malta and Denmark, joining existing flights to Copenhagen operated by both Norwegian and its competitor, SAS.

This new route marks a boost for Billund Airport, which has seen its international network shrink since Ryanair closed its base there. Ryanair had cited a Danish aviation tax as the reason for its withdrawal and had previously operated its own Malta-Billund route during the winter of 2023.

The Malta service is one of ten new routes Norwegian will launch from Billund next year.

The other European destinations include Barcelona, Bergamo, Chania, Edinburgh, Rome, Las Palmas, Naples, Nice, and Porto.

Norwegian is the second-largest airline in Scandinavia and the fourth-largest low-cost carrier in Europe.
