After more than 45 years leading Malta’s vertical transport sector, Lift Services Ltd has taken a decisive step in strengthening its position in the commercial market.
Best known locally for its premium residential lift solutions, the company has built its reputation on long-standing partnerships with global heavyweights. The portfolio is anchored by Stannah, the internationally acclaimed stairlift manufacturers, and Cibes, equally renowned for their customisable pitless lifts that can fit in spaces as small as 1m². Building on this solid foundation, the company has now announced a strategic alliance with Hyundai Elevators.
While Lift Services has always been active in commercial projects, partnering with Hyundai represents a calculated expansion. Rather than simply filling a gap, the company sought a traction lift brand that could equal the exacting quality and standards already established by their existing partners.
“We sought to find a brand that matches the quality and standards made available by Stannah and Cibes,” explains CEO Alexander Chetcuti. “Hyundai offers exactly that, allowing us to expand our offerings with more high-quality options that cater to the entire market spectrum.”
For Lift Services, the decision was driven by the need for a partner that could offer versatility without compromising on engineering excellence. Hyundai Elevators, part of the South Korean industrial giant Hyundai Group, holds decades of experience and a reputation for manufacturing precision.
This partnership is ideal for architects and developers working on projects of all scopes. The product line includes cost-effective options suitable for residential upgrades and apartment blocks, scaling effortlessly to hotels, high-rise and mixed-use developments.
Beyond brand strength, the partnership introduces tangible technical advantages. Lift Services is launching Hyundai’s NEX-1 Series to the local market, a traction lift distinguished by next-generation technology, featuring the silent, eco-friendly H-Belt drive for smoother rides, futuristic motion-activated buttons for touch-free access, and extensive customisability.

Jean Claude Annati, Head of Sales
“Hyundai, as a brand, is miles ahead of many competitors when it comes to technology,” Mr Chetcuti notes. “The way the lift is manufactured, the level of investment in R&D, the reliability of the components; all of this translates into fewer issues on site and over the life of the product.”
One of the most critical factors in Malta is space. Shaft dimensions are often fixed and limited, particularly in urban developments. Advanced engineering allows Hyundai lifts to maximise usable cabin space within those constraints.
“When you’re working with something like a 150 by 150 shaft, the technology behind the motor and machinery makes all the difference,” Head of Sales Jean Claude Annati explains. “The more advanced the manufacturer, the more cabin space you can offer. That’s a major selling point locally.”
Design also plays a growing role. Hyundai makes available a large range of finishes, lighting options, control panels, and integrated screens that bring what Mr Annati describes as a “next level” aesthetic. “The cabins are sleek, modern, and highly customisable. They elevate the overall feel of a building, which is increasingly important in commercial and mixed-use projects.”
The Hyundai partnership is part of a wider upscaling strategy that Lift Services has been implementing for several years. Alongside strengthening its offering in Malta, the company has secured rights to represent key brands in North African markets, including Tunisia and Morocco, and is working to strengthen those regional partnerships.
“This is both a local and international strategy,” Mr Chetcuti explains. “We’re increasing our presence here, but we’re also building relationships beyond Malta, with developers as well as distributors. Hyundai is crucial for large-scale commercial projects, and this is just the start.”
Equally important is the company’s focus on aftersales service. As Lift Services grows, it is reinvesting in local operations, economies of scale, and technical expertise to ensure that installation quality continues to be matched by long-term, timely support. The trust built over decades with residential clients, particularly through brands like Stannah and Cibes, has provided the foundation for this next step.
The partnership with Hyundai Elevators is already live. Enquiries are coming in, and orders are being placed. For Lift Services, this is a confident statement of intent: to bring the same standard of excellence that defined its residential success into Malta’s most ambitious developments.
