MI Malta, a local destination management company, on Tuesday morning announced the passing of its Director for Italy, Australia and Scandanavia, Joseph Farrugia.

In an emotional message, the company wrote:

“We have lost one of our dearest friends and most wonderful colleagues at such a young age.”

The company did not share how Mr Farrugia passed, but that it happened on Monday evening.

“Joe was not just any ordinary colleague or friend. He was a true gentleman and always had a positive word of advice to share even in the worse of times. He was always happy to help and reach out, and loved and lived life to the max”, MI Malta wrote on social media.

“Life without him at MI is never going to be the same and he leaves such emptiness that time will not heal. We do have so many fond beautiful memories of a man who adored his two children and family and loved what he did - from his job to his sports and his hobbies.

“Our hearts are broken, and he will be sorely missed. May he find the peace he always loved out by the sea which gave him so much peace and tranquillity.”

Mr Farrugia had been engaged as Director for Italy, Austria and Scandinavia with MI Malta since March 2014, and has been familiar with event management, travel and hospitality throughout his career.
