Malcolm Aquilina has marked his last day within the Insurance and Pensions Supervision Function (IPS) at the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA), and is taking on the role of Senior Manager within the Office of the Chief Officer Supervision.
Mr Aquilina said that he joined IPS in 2022 as an analyst and leaves as a manager. “However, these four years have been about much more than progression or job titles. They have been years of continuous learning, challenging experiences, new responsibilities, friendships and significant personal and professional growth.”
“I have had the privilege of working alongside some exceptional professionals across IPS, including colleagues within supervision, finance, authorisations, actuarial and legal. Each, in different ways, has contributed to my experience and development.”
As this chapter comes to a close, he said he will be taking up the role of Senior Manager within the Office of the Chief Officer Supervision.
“My new role will provide me with the opportunity to contribute at a broader level to the strategic direction of supervision across the MFSA, supporting the setting of supervisory priorities and strategy, strengthening coordination across the Supervisory Directorate, contributing to cross-Authority initiatives and supporting engagement at European and international level.”
After almost 20 years working within insurance, from claims and insurance operations to prudential supervision, “I am excited to take this next step into supervisory coordination and strategy.”
