Lidl Malta Ltd has been named as the most popular supermarket in Malta, a study by EMCS Ltd found.

The study, called ‘The Brands in Malta Survey 2021-2022’, was conducted through a two-year survey that seeks to provide an overview of brand value and consumer perception of different brands in Malta.

Sharing the news through social media on Thursday, Lidl Malta Ltd said: “We are happy to share with you that Lidl is the most popular supermarket amongst the Maltese people, according to a recent study conducted by EMCS Ltd.”

The survey focused on six categories: cars, soft drinks, insurance companies, chocolate, supermarkets, and clothing.

“This result is surely a motivation to Lidl Malta Ltd’s colleagues,” the post continued.

Speaking on the results, EMCS Director Ramon Muscat said that EMCS believes “there are no shortcuts to sustainable growth,” with the study being “the first of its kind”.

“It is designed to help business leaders balance the pressure for short-term results with long-term sustainable and profitable growth,” he said.

“Brands that are bold enough to invest in making consumers’ lives better in creative and innovative ways, even during difficult times, have the potential to reap greater rewards,” Mr Muscat added.

The survey is measured primarily through three parameters, with these being top of mind awareness, the last brand used, and future intention.

Lidl Malta Ltd first opened in Malta in 2008, being part of the Schawrz Group headquartered in Germany, and apart from being the leading supermarket brand in Malta, it is also one of the leading food retailers in Europe.

EMCS Ltd is an advisory and tax firm based in Malta that serves both local and international clients.
