Kempisnki Hotel Culinary Director Trevor Portelli won the Tourism Worker Of the Year award at the Gozo Tourism Awards over the weekend.

Mr Portelli is an experienced chef who is renowned for his innovative but authentic take on  Gozitan cuisine. A few years ago, he launched a ġbejna dessert, filling the famous cheeselet with home-made pear jam and serving it on a carob ‘soil’.

Meanwhile, Ta’ Vestru Restaurant’s Nigel Tabone was named Young Tourism Worker of the Year, while Andre Refalo from L-Eremita Boutique Hotel won the Tourism Entrepreneurship award.

Kayak Gozo won the Tourism Business Niche Achievement award, and Dwejra Tower – managed by Din l-Art Ħelwa – won the Tourism Culture Niche Achievement award.

The Gozo Tourism Awards are organised by the Gozo Tourism Association.
