In a press release, AICR Malta confirmed that the section has been formally reactivated under new leadership, reaffirming its commitment to excellence in front office professionalism and international hospitality standards within Malta’s tourism sector.

The relaunch marks what the association describes as a renewed phase of engagement with hotels, hospitality leaders and front office professionals across the Maltese Islands. Front office teams are highlighted as key ambassadors of Malta’s tourism offering, shaping first impressions and long-term guest loyalty.

“With Malta set to host the international Receptionist of the Year competition in 2027, this is a pivotal moment to engage the industry, develop talent, and showcase Maltese hospitality at its best,” Mr Abela said in the statement.

The move comes as Malta prepares to host the AICR International ROTY finals in 2027, a development described in the accompanying Memorandum of Association as a “landmark opportunity” for the country and its hospitality professionals. The document outlines AICR Malta’s mission to promote excellence, professionalism and leadership within hotel front office, rooms division and guest experience functions, while positioning Malta as a benchmark destination for service standards and international collaboration .

As part of its renewed direction, AICR Malta has issued a call for engagement to hotels and hospitality organisations interested in joining the section, as well as front office professionals seeking membership, networking and professional development opportunities . Hotels are also being encouraged to nominate candidates for ROTY 2026, which will serve as the preparatory pathway leading into Malta’s hosting of the international competition the following year.

Founded in 1964, AICR is an international association dedicated to promoting excellence in front office and guest services, with active sections across Europe and worldwide . The Maltese section’s memorandum further details plans for educational workshops, mentorship initiatives, industry networking and structured governance through an Executive Committee to oversee strategy and delivery.
