Popular Italian, home and personal care goods store, Risparmio Casa, announced on Italian media that it will be opening 10 new outlets in Malta in the coming five years.

La Stampa, the outlet that broke the news, said that three out of the 10 stores planned across the islands are scheduled to open in 2024. This adds another Italian brand to the upcoming list of establishments expected to be introduced to the islands in the future.

Risparmio Casa was founded by the Roman Battistelli brothers, Stefano and Fabio, and has more than 150 outlets in Italy and one in Switzerland. It was reported that the company had a turnover of almost one billion euros.

“In Malta we have the possibility of managing the drug store and do-it-yourself (DIY) market present on the islands, that is currently being catered for by small local shops,” Stefano Battistelli told La Stampa.

The Maltese Islands have multiple shops catering for DIY projects at home, mostly known as “taż-żebgħa”. Malta also has bigger outlets such as BigMat Malta and HomeMate Co Ltd, among others, that offer products similar to that of Risparmio Casa. This includes products for, cleaning, home care, beauty and personal care, pets, toys, stationery and DIY.

Within the next five years, Fabio Battistelli is projecting that around 150 people will work for Risparmio Casa in Malta, “a great added value for our group, but also for the economic and social fabric of the Island.”

GDOWEEK reported that the first outlet is expected to open in Mosta taking up 1,000 square meters in space with a staff of 15 people. No set timeline or locations for the other outlets is known at the time.
