Director of Global Pricing Strategy Brian Micallef on Sunday announced that he has left UK-based delivery service Deliveroo after more than a year in the role.
“My tenure at Deliveroo was shorter than I planned for. 409 days to be exact,” he shared.
He added that he hopes that he has left Group Product Manager Robert Griggs and the rest of the team “in a strong position to continue the great work the pricing and value team are leading” under the guidance of Vice President of Consumer Emma Simmonds and Vice President of Product Katie Cummings.
“Thank you Deliveroo for having me. It was a great ride. I will be cheering from the sidelines,” Mr Micallef said.
Founded in 2013, Deliveroo is a delivery service that works with around 176,000 restaurants and grocery partners, and has over 150,000 riders. It is headquartered in London, UK, but has offices around the globe and operates across 10 markets.
He also announced that he will start a new role on Monday (today), yet did not reveal what it will actually be.
During his time at Deliveroo, Mr Micallef led the strategy team within the consumer pricing function, which is described as the company’s “Guardian of Profitability”. He was also tasked with managing a team of pricing strategy experts with a focus on “improving consumer fees for all Deliveroo markets supported by large cross-functional teams across machine learning, data science, product management, and software engineering”.
Apart from his previous role at Deliveroo, he is also a Member and Business Mentor at Association of Business Mentors, and a Business Mentor at Enterprise Nation.
He has experience working at GO plc and Ixaris Systems, but left for the UK in 2009 to join BSkyB, and then went on to work at communications company BT Group and global sports media company DAZN Group in various senior positions.
Mr Micallef holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from University of Malta and a Master of Arts in Management from Durham University, as well as a Financial Times Non-Executive Director Diploma.
