Tomorrow’s episode of The Boardroom will shine a spotlight into the Malta Digital Innovation Authority and its work.

The MDIA is the primary authority responsible for promoting all Governmental policies that promote Malta as a centre for excellence for technological innovation, while setting and enforcing standards that ensure compliance with any other international obligations.

The authority seeks to protect and support all users and also encourages all types of innovations, by allowing for maximum flexibility when it comes to the certification of Innovative Technology Arrangements.

Airing tomorrow at 9.30am, live from WhosWho.mt’s Facebook page, The Boardroom presenter Jo Caruana will catch up with the MDIA’s Chief Executive Officer, Stephen McCarthy, the Chief Technology Officer, Efrem Borg and the Chief Regulatory Officer, Trevor Sammut.

Stephen McCarthy - CEO

The CEO of the MDIA upon its foundation, Mr McCarthy has been entrusted with steering Malta’s vision for fostering innovation and understands the importance of regulatory and oversight functions due to his experience in multiple key industries in Malta.

Graduated in Accountancy, he has worked in iGaming, property, manufacturing, education and social housing.

Efrem Borg – CTO

Prior to joining the MDIA, Efrem successfully managed prominent Digital Infrastructure Projects, and lead the transformation of the Information Security function responsible for Government’s central digital infrastructure, whilst conducting a nation-wide cyber security awareness campaign.

Efrem is the latest addition to MDIA’s team. He is committed to leverage his experience to promote and encourage the local uptake of innovative technology, working in tandem with controlled regulation to maximise the benefits that such technologies bring about to our daily life.

Trevor Sammut – CRO

With vast experience in implementing various projects, ranging from within the Malta Police Force to business requirements related to the Healthcare systems, Mr Sammut has the necessary requirements to tackle Authorisations and Compliance functions in a technical environment.
