Mazars in Malta recently announced your appointment as Audit and Assurance Partner within the firm; how do you view this latest development in your career?

The past five years as Senior Audit Manager at Mazars in Malta has provided me with further invaluable experience of working on a diverse range of important assignments, dealing with myriad clients operating in a cross-section of industries. These years have also provided me with the opportunity to understand, appreciate, and contribute towards what it means to translate the values of Mazars into the day-to-day delivery of our customised solutions. I am confident that in my new role, my expertise and integrity will continue to benefit both the firm, and ultimately our clients.

Could you give us a brief overview of your career progression to date?

Well, I have extensive experience in auditing, having worked at one of the Big Four audit firms for 15 years. My work has covered a wide variety of sectors and industries, including audits of listed entities and PIEs, multinational groups operating in different industries, as well as audit clients in financial services, gaming, aviation, healthcare, hospitality, and construction sectors. I also gained experience as financial controller of a local group of companies before joining Mazars in Malta in 2018 as Audit Senior Manager, where I continued to specialise in PIE audit engagements and group audits. As regards my academic journey, I graduated from the University of Malta and am a certified public accountant, and a member of the Malta Institute of Accountants.

The range of services offered by Mazars in Malta has evolved considerably over the years. How does audit feature in the current scenario?

Today, Mazars in Malta is a multidisciplinary firm offering a comprehensive and flexible range of services, specialising in audit, accountancy, advisory, and tax services. However, audit has always been at the heart of Mazars, in Malta and globally, and will continue to be so in the years ahead. As a global partnership, we proudly work alongside some of the major players internationally, acting as group auditors to some of the largest companies in the world. The same is true of our partnership and collaboration with many of Malta’s most prestigious firms and institutions. Moreover, since confidence in audit quality is critical, we continue to place huge importance on maintaining the highest possible standards of audit quality in the firm.
