Uber, the world-famous cab hailing company is set to launch in Malta, WhosWho.mt can confirm.

The local operators of the international company are currently meeting with potential cab drivers in a wide recruitment drive that will pave the way for the service’s launch.

Uber has not publicly confirmed its Malta launch however this newsroom spoke to several drivers who met with the company for details on what working with the service will entail.

Uber originated in San Franciso, America in 2009 and has since then taken the global cab hailing industry by storm. Today, it operates in around 72 countries at 10,500 cities.

Locally, it’s main competitors would be eCabs and Bolt, which both have their own cab hailing mobile application to service clients.

Uber operates by receiving a commission from each booking, and similarly to Bolt, does not own its vehicles.
