The winners of the first-ever Pitchora start-up competition have been announced, and recipe-to-grocery app Grocerly won first place.

The app, which helps users find recipes, before letting customers order all the ingredients they need from a supermarket delivery service.

Triumphing over nine other finalists, the start-up will now receive a €10,000 grant and a place on an exclusive start-up incubator Basement2Boardroom.

Matter Make, which offers robotic 3D printing in ceramics, was runner up and Fyorin, a Fintech company aiming to offer tailored business banking services to SMEs, came in third.

Congratulating the winners on social media, Pitchora said: “We are absolutely thrilled with the overwhelming response and the quality of the participants.

“An extremely diverse range of start-ups took part in the competition which made the judging all the more challenging and so a big thank you goes to all the participants, judging team, collaborators and organisers”.

Grocerly’s victory is the culmination of an extended process by which Pitchora, which was an event designed by Dean Micallef, put contestants through multiple evaluations, including a Shark-Tank-style pitch, for which contestants attended a two-hour training workshop.
