Giorgio Armani, the legendary fashion designer and one of the most influential figures in the world of style, passed away today at the age of 91.
Just weeks ago, it was reported that he would return in September after a health setback had forced him to miss fashion shows in Milan and Paris – the first time he had ever missed one of his own catwalk events.
"With infinite sorrow, the Armani Group announces the passing of its creator, founder, and tireless driving force: Giorgio Armani," Armani Group said.
Mr Armani, who had celebrated his 91st birthday on July 11, passed away peacefully at his home.
A public viewing will be held from 6th to 7th September in Milan. In accordance with Mr Armani’s wishes, the funeral will be a private ceremony.
He is survived by his family and Leo Dell’Orco, his partner of the past 20 years, leaving behind a legacy of timeless elegance and innovation that has shaped the fashion world for decades.
