Gillieru Investments plc earlier this week announced that the restaurant operating within the Gillieru complex, known as Gillieru Restaurant, will be rebranded under the name of ‘Ostrica Nera’ at Gillieru.
The announcement comes into effect on 10th May, while Gillieru Investments detailed how the rebranding will also include a “complete refurbishment of the restaurant” and shall offer a new concept that boasts different cuisines.
The new concept, the company explained, will be “spearheaded by our third-party operator of the restaurant” and shall also explore new business opportunities such as weddings, corporate events, parties and special occasions.
Brushing against the St Paul bay’s Coast, Gillieru restaurant has over 100 years of experience, treating its diners with traditional A’ la Carte Mediterranean menu items.
Indeed, the founding family’s heritage is rooted in culinary tradition, operating out of a kitchen at the back of a grocery shop in St Paul’s Bay, serving up traditional dishes such as ‘aljotta’, fried ‘vopi’ and ‘gbejna tal-bzar’ in clay pots around 100 years ago. The kitchen’s popularity grew, and so too did its service offering, which led the family to opening The Gillieru in 1965.
On it’s Facebook page the company added to this announcement that it couldn’t wait to show what they’ve been “cooking up in their kitchen.”
