President George Vella visited General Soft Drinks Ltd on Tuesday, where he lauded the company’s environmental credentials and described it as a “pillar of strength to the manufacturing sector in Malta”.

During the visit to the General Soft Drinks premises at the Marsa Industrial Estate, the President and Mrs Vella were walked through the process of production, bottling, and packaging, and had the opportunity to meet and speak with several company employees.

During his speech, President Vella praised the company for its contribution to the Maltese economy.

He noticed the importance given to the environment and sustainability, especially in the efforts dedicated to tackle the issue of plastic waste in Malta, and the company’s future plans to deal with plastic waste in general.

He urged all of the employees to strongly continue to build their commitment and drive in this regard.

“It would also be great to see you developing further your engagement with students that embark on vocational training,” President Vella added.

“Hands-on experience in these premises, and in a high-level professional set-up, could provide immense benefits to our young students."

He also commended the company's Corporate Social Responsibility and thanked the company for its constant support of the Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation.
