The Malta Entertainment Industry and Arts Association (MEIA) has appointed Francesco Grech as Chair within its Literature Advisory Committee.

Sharing the news on LinkedIn, Mr Grech remarked that Malta’s literature sector has “long been undervalued” and that it is time for a change.

“As Chair, I’m committed to making Maltese literature as a priority by working closely with all stakeholders in the field,” he said.

He continued saying that whether it concerns authors, publishers, or readers, he looks forward to creating spaces for diverse voices, fresh ideas, and a stronger platform for Maltese literature.

“Building bridges will be key, and I’m excited to start building them together,” Mr Grech concluded.

Mr Grech, born in Gozo, studied at the University of Malta and Rome and graduated with two Masters in Literature and Arts as well as Culture and Management.

As an author and composer, his works toured around various theatres in Gozo, Malta, and Italy.

Additionally, in 202, he was chosen by Salzburg Global Seminar and Arts Council Malta to participate in the international seminar On the Front Line: Artists at Risk, Artists Who Risk in Austria.

Professionally, he served also as the Cultural Manager for the Gozo Regional Council in Malta where he kick-started Gozo’s first literature Festival with Inizjamed and also applied for Gozo to become the European Region of Gastronomy 2026.
