The Malta Institute of Management has appointed Bridget Borg as its director general, the first female to occupy the office.
With management experience in the hospitality industry and the recruitment of people seeking a job, Ms Borg has a Master’s in Sociology from the University of Utrecht, Holland.
In 2016, she was included in the Arts Faculty Dean’s list for her superior academic achievements. Ms Borg is a lecture in sociology of law at the University of Malta and co-founder of the Malta Sociological Association, also sitting on its executive committee.
She worked at the Ombudsman’s Office in Amsterdam and, until some time ago, also within the former Ministry for European Affairs and Equality in Malta.
The Malta Institute of Management was founded in 1964 and embraces managers and people aspiring to be active in management. The non-profit organisation, which is neither involved in politics nor in trade unionism, offers courses, education programmes, training, networking, assistance and advice to members and the business community in Malta and Gozo. Last October, the MIM launched the Maltese Taxation Studies Academy.
The institute says it is looking forward to continue fine-tuning the synergy between the public sector and local and foreign companies with the aim of raising standards through sound relations that reap benefits to members.
