Montekristo Estates are currently in full on activity as the vast grounds are getting ready to host the popular annual Fiera l-Kbira event, which this year promises to be bigger and better. WhosWho.mt caught up with John Micallef, General Manager at Montekristo, who explained what audiences can expect to find at the event, amongst other things.

“This year we want to bring back the authentic fair values, that characterise a successful business venture and a fun evening out for all the family,” John explains as he describes what is new at this year’s Fiera l-Kbira.

“In fact, Montekristo, as the sole organiser of the event, has decided to move away from having excessive entertainment on the grounds, and focus the attention on the great deals that our participating merchants will have on offer.”

The new formula seems to be working very well, as interest has been booming. “Ever since we opened applications for participating businesses, interest went through the roof, and we couldn’t be happier. In fact, we are, and have been for a number of weeks, at full capacity, which augurs very well for a successful fair featuring some of the island’s prime brands.”

John brings with him a wealth of experience spanning over three decades working in four and five-star hotel environments. In fact, while Fiera l-Kbira is one of the flagship events of Montekristo Estates, John is responsible for running the show all year round, building and managing dynamic teams that keep the venue thriving.

“At Montekristo Estates, flexibility is key as we make sure to sit down and understand what each client needs. Be it the annual event for a gaming company or a summit for property operators, we try to provide a bespoke service for the clients to organise a special event that is unique to them. Each event is tailored to meet the specific desires and high expectations of clients, ensuring every gathering stands out. Every client is different and has their own set of goals, so we strive to be adaptable and flexible.”

John’s extensive background in hospitality management allows him to integrate the various elements that make an event successful. From logistics to event coordination, he ensures every aspect is planned and executed. A follow-up to the event with clients often goes a long way in ensuring that all have a positive experience.

“To me a good post-event meeting is crucial to understand what the client’s thoughts were and how we could improve our performance as hosts. I am pleased to note that in most cases, feedback is excellent, but we can always improve, and we never shy away from taking constructive criticism on board. It is part of what we do,” John continues.

Forming part of the larger Polidano Group, Montekristo Estates brings an added layer of assurance to clients, who trust that their events will be managed to the highest standards, from all points of view.

Going back to the much-anticipated Fiera l-Kbira, John emphasises that the event is guaranteed to offer something for all the family. “Apart from the actual fair and stands with the greatest offers, the event shall feature the Rulina fun park for all the family ensuring non-stop entertainment for the young and young at heart! Additionally, the animal park will also be open on the days of the fair.”

“We are also aware that we are in full on football season, so all the footie fans do not need to worry about missing their favourite team’s matches, since these will all be shown on the big screen in a purposely set-up Euros 2024 village. Rare Restaurant in fact will be transformed into a hub for football fans, providing a lively atmosphere where they can watch matches and savour Montekristo’s own exclusive brew, of the same name.”

Moreover, Palazzo Candela at Montekristo Estates will also be open to the public featuring artistic and artisanal exhibitions.

“As we gear up for another Fiera l-Kbira, we welcome the public to visit us between the 25th June and 7th July, for some great deals and entertainment for all the family,” John concludes.
