The number of those officially registering for work dropped by 123 last December when compared to a year earlier, according to data provided by Jobsplus to the National Statistics Office.

The NSO said the number of registered unemployed fell among all age groups, except among those aged 24 or less.

The largest share of males and females on the unemployment register were interested in clerical support work.

Both the number of those who have been on the unemployment register for less than 21 weeks and those registering for more than a year decreased when compared to December 2018. The highest drop was among those who had been registering for more than one year. In contrast, those who have been seeking a job for between 21 and 52 weeks, increased in the period under review.
