Three of Farsons Group’s beers have been handed awards in this year’s edition of the Brussels Beer Challenge, an annual beer competition held in Belgium.
The Blue Label Amber Ale was awarded gold in the Pale & Amber Ale: Strong/Extra Special Bitter category, whilst Double Red Strong Ale was awarded bronze in the Pale & Amber Ale: Strong Amber category. On the other hand, Cisk Strong was awarded silver in the Lager: German-Style Helles/Mailbock/Dopplebock category.
Blue Label Amber Ale was originally launched in 1928 and has won numerous awards over the years, whilst Double Red Strong Ale is a more recent addition to the Farsons Classic Brews range which also includes Green Hop IPA. Cisk Strong is a nine per cent ABV strong lager forming part of the speciality range of the Cisk portfolio.
This year’s edition of the awards, which took place in Turnhout in the heart of the Antwerp Campine, saw 1,811 beers from 37 different countries take part. With 400 beers, Belgium had the largest number of entries, ahead of Italy (224), France (158), the United States (143), China (133), Brazil (127), and Germany (103).
Notable this year were the entries from Ghana, Ecuador, South Korea, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Mali.
“We are proud to have been recognised once again in this prestigious competition. These awards are testament to the consistency and quality of our beers and a tribute to our brewing team whose expertise and dedication to the craft of brewing is unrivalled,” commented Farsons Group Chief Operations Officer Eugenio Caruana.
The Brussels Beer Challenge is the first professional beer competition in Belgium and was created by Beer Communications and Events (Becomev), under the leadership of Luc de Raedemaeker and Thomas Costenoble in 2012, in response to the growing interest in the beer culture. The competition offers brewers from around the world a unique opportunity to compete with the best Belgian beers.
