Bortex Group Finance plc announced on Tuesday (today) the appointment of Etienne Borg Cardona on the Board of Directors and as a member of the Audit Committee with immediate effect.

Dr Borg Cardona started his professional experience in banking, accountancy, and audit, then went on to enjoy a successful 30 year career in various leadership positions in the private sector, most recently as CEO of a leading group of companies. In 2017 Dr Borg Cardona founded Capital Advisory, an independent consulting firm specialising on corporate finance, financial management and corporate governance.

Dr Borg Cardona is a fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants and Malta Institute of Accountants where he was elected to council between 2012 and 2021, as well as a council member of the Institute of Financial Services Practitioners (IFSP), Malta, where he chairs the Directors’ Sub-committee. He is also a member of the Institute of Directors UK and currently sits as an independent non-executive director on boards of listed, regulated, and private local and international companies in various industry sectors.

In 2020 Dr Borg Cardona completed a PhD in Leadership and Management from Cranfield School of Management, Cranfield University UK. This doctorate followed an M.A in Financial Services, Finance and Financial Management Services from the University of Malta as well as an ACCA. Dr Borg Cardona has lectured in financial management in the department of accountancy within the Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy at the University of Malta. He has also lectured on the history of finance, commerce, and money in modern economies at the University of Malta Centre for Liberal Arts and Sciences, and on financial management at Cranfield Business School, UK.
