Lawyer Peter Fenech has been elected President of the newly formed council within the Chamber of Advocates. Heading the Chamber for the upcoming three years, Dr Fenech is “poised to guide the Chamber into a future that embraces innovation and proactively addresses the evolving needs of the legal profession.”
Alongside his leadership, the Chamber welcomed Stefan Camilleri as Secretary General and Ethics Officer, Paul Micallef Grimaud as Vice President for Advancement of the Profession, Anna Mifsud Bonnici as Vice President for Internal Affairs. Cedric Mifsud was appointed as Financial Officer, Deo Falzon as Communications and Technology Officer, Donald Vella as Professional Development Officer, Davinia Cutajar as International Officer and Victoria Cuschieri as Court Liaison Officer.
The Chamber explained that the introduction of “novel positions” such as the Vice President for the Advancement of the Profession underlines its commitment to fortifying its impact during this tenure.
At the inaugural Council meeting, Dr Fenech expressed optimism “that this diversified representation will holistically champion the interests of the profession, providing impetus for its progressive evolution.”
The Chamber of Advocates expressed that its emphasis will be on steering the regulation of the profession and catalysing essential advancements across the legal practice. It also highlighted its commitment to “advancing the legal profession, fostering innovation and shaping an empowered community of legal practitioners.”
