Codit, a digital integration specialist owned by the Belgian telecommunications giant Proximus Group, has closed its Malta office.
Responding to questions from WhosWho.mt, a Proximus spokesperson confirmed that the closure forms part of an effort to consolidate Codit’s nearshore operations “in a single location,” with the aim of achieving “greater operational focus and efficiency.”
The decision was officially communicated to Malta-based staff on 7th April, impacting 11 employees. All affected team members were offered severance packages “in line with local legislation and internal policies,” the spokesperson said.
The Malta team had been engaged in a range of functions supporting Codit’s international operations. These included customer service desk support, development of the company’s Invictus integration accelerator, and remote Azure development services across various European projects.
“These activities will now be absorbed by other Codit teams across Europe and will gradually be built up in the Portugal office,” the company stated.
Codit was acquired by Proximus as part of a strategy to expand its digital transformation capabilities. At the time of the acquisition, both companies had described themselves as “highly complementary,” with Proximus bringing network and infrastructure strength, and Codit contributing business integration and software expertise. Importantly, the acquisition had promised no immediate restructuring or changes to Codit’s strategy, operations, or management.
While Codit aims to evaluate the most efficient ways to serve its customers, the company said it has “no specific announcements” regarding further structural or staffing changes.
