From its beginnings as a small teleshopping company in the 1990s to its current position as a recognisable retail and professional equipment supplier in Malta, CoseCasa has grown through constant evolution and a strong commitment to its customers.

Today, under the leadership of Managing Director Andre Agius, the company operates two respected brands, CoseCasa and ProKitchen, serving both households and the hospitality industry.

Mr Agius’ relationship with the business dates back to its early days, culminating in his full takeover in 2004 when the CoseCasa brand was officially born. Reflecting on the company’s steady growth, he emphasises that the foundation of everything they built stems from people.

“The brand was built through the staff and the customers,” he explains. “The vision was always to give a good product and service, but it was more the clients themselves that led the way. They kept us giving them the products they required.”

CoseCasa’s expansion over the past three decades is rooted in a culture of active listening – an approach Mr Agius insists remains central to their operations.

“I try to listen to everyone’s opinions,” he says. “We hold post-mortem meetings after Easter, Christmas, and sale periods to always listen to the clients – we do not ignore their feedback.”

This philosophy has guided the brand from a retail outlet in Balzan, now the flagship store and head office, to a growing product range, and the development of CoseCasa’s own in-house lines, such as the Ambassador International stainless-steel cookware range. Every product, Mr Agius notes, is selected based on quality, design, and value, with sourcing trips across Europe and the Far East ensuring a steady stream of innovation.

About 15 years ago, a new opportunity emerged – one that would ultimately shape the next chapter of the business. What began with selling household tabletop items grew unexpectedly when a hotel’s food and beverage manager encouraged Mr Agius to showcase products directly to the hospitality sector. That encounter became the starting point of ProKitchen, now a key supplier of catering equipment in Malta.

ProKitchen’s evolution was natural, Mr Agius explains: “ProKitchen complements CoseCasa perfectly so it was an easy transition. Clients requested equipment, so we started with small items like a toaster, and then they started asking for more.”

This demand led to the expansion of larger warehouses, the creation of a technical department, and investment in delivery fleets, sales vehicles, and trained technicians. Today, the brand supports establishments of all sizes, offering both professional equipment and maintenance packages to ensure clients’ operations run smoothly.

Running two thriving brands is not without challenges, especially in a market where major importers dominate the professional equipment space. Choosing reliable suppliers, Mr Agius notes, was initially one of the toughest hurdles.

“The choosing of brands was not easy, because a lot of brands are already being represented by large importers,” he explains. “With a lot of work, we have our own brands today which are 90% Italian. It wasn’t an easy journey. We tried various equipment and eliminated them which, in turn, cost us money. When certain items didn’t meet our expectations, we ensured clients received an upgraded, higher-quality alternative at no additional cost.”

That commitment has paid off. Today, ProKitchen is trusted by prominent hotels and hospitality leaders. “The rewarding part is when big hotels and big chains trust us and our products” he says proudly.

Both CoseCasa and ProKitchen share a future-focused vision built on innovation, service, and relationships. Mr Agius highlights that customers can expect continued product development and even greater technical support in the coming years.

‘‘We have new, innovative products on the way, and we remain fully committed to the level of service our clients have come to expect,” he says. “Our focus is on technical precision and attention to detail at every stage, from planning to execution. All of this stems from continuous investment - investment in our clients, our team, and our processes. It’s not just financial; it’s also a significant investment of time.”

Despite the company’s impressive growth, Mr Agius is quick to credit his team above all. “I wouldn’t be here without my staff,” he emphasises. “We are currently a team of 30 people and whatever has been achieved was because of them.”

Three decades since its founding, CoseCasa continues to shape Maltese homes, while ProKitchen helps fuel the island’s thriving hospitality sector. What began as “things for the home” has become a dual-brand operation built on trust, consistency, and a remarkable ability to listen and evolve.
