Last Wednesday, the first MINISO store in Malta was unveiled. The retail outlet comprises of 230 square metres and is located in High Street, Sliema.

With more than 3,900 stores in 40 countries worldwide, MINISO is a renowned low-cost retailer with a variety of homeware, digital accessories, health and beauty, toys, and textile products that are inexpensive and well-designed.

The company behind the launch of MINISO in Malta is family-owned business, JB Group. JB Group has been around for more than 37 years, with humble beginnings, having started out as a textiles’ supplier back in 1983.

Employing a workforce of over 235 people, JB Group is continuously looking for new business ventures that help strengthen their offering to the local consumer. Apart from MINISO, the family also runs one of the country’s most well-known department stores JB Stores, the Italian fashion store Candida, and the Hotel Santana.

MINISO’s specific designs cater for a fun and colourful life: an aesthetic in tune with bringing those young at heart the most enjoyable shopping experience possible. MINISO has also collaborated with world-famous brands including Coca-Cola, Marvel, Hello Kitty, Sesame Street, and others, releasing cross-branded products that are hugely popular with young shoppers.

Director of JB Group Chris Sant, one of the directors representing the second generation, expressed his excitement for this new phase of investment together with his siblings Adrian, Maria, and Sarah, and added how “the liveliness of the MINISO brand fits perfectly as a new adventure for the Group’s second generation”.

Co-founder and chief designer Miyake Junya communicated via video message during the event, praising Malta for being “a beautiful country” and hoping the Maltese enjoy the “pleasant and relaxing shopping experience” offered at MINISO.

MINISO is located at Tagliaferro Business Centre, High Street, Sliema and is open Mondays to Saturdays from 9:00am to 7:30pm and Sundays between 10:00am and 5:00pm.
