CareMalta, a nursing and residential care provider operating facilities all around Malta, has made two new appointments to its management team, with Edel Borg Mizzi and Antoine Borg being appointed Facility Managers at Żejtun Home and Bormla Home respectively.

Both have extensive experience in the sector and have assumed various roles with the company.

Ms Borg Mizzi has been employed with Caremalta since 2003, starting her career as a Care Assistant at Casa Arkati. After seven years, she had a two-year experience as a Senior Care Assistant at Roseville residence, and later as a Lead Care Assistant at both Roseville and Żejtun Home, where she was responsible for the care department.

During the same period, she was engaged as a Training and Development officer for another year. Following this experience, Ms Borg Mizzi was appointed again as a Lead Care Assistant at Żejtun Home.

She has read several courses offered by CareMalta and other institutions, and recently finished her studies at the University of Malta, within the Faculty of Social Wellbeing in Geriatrics and Gerontology.

In October 2020, she started her journey as Assistant Facility Manager at the Żejtun Home and in July 2021, she joined Casa Arkati as an Assistant Facility Manager, before being appointed Facility Manager at Żejtun Home.

Mr Borg started his journey with CareMalta back in 2009, within the kitchen department at Mellieħa Home. After some time, he joined the Front Office team within the same facility where he focused his duties on the needs of the residents and their relatives.

In 2018 he was appointed as a Facility Administrative Assistant of a new Nursing Home, Casa Marija.

Upon completion of his Diploma in Leadership and Management, he was appointed as an Assistant Facility Manager at Bormla Home. Almost a year after assuming the role, he has now been appointed as Facility Manager.

Both care homes form part of the CareMalta Group portfolio. The company, a subsidiary of Vassallo Group, provides services in nursing and residential care, independent living for older persons, as well as persons with disability, ALS and degenerative diseases, and persons with mental health issues, through HILA Homes Ltd.

James Sciriha, Chief Executive Officer of the CareMalta Group, congratulated both managers, saying: “We are proud to have you not only as part of the CareMalta team but also part of our management team where we are committed to providing quality care in a homely environment”.

CareMalta’s CEO further explained how the Group does not only have the wellness of its residents at heart but also that of its employees, by investing in the improvement of their skills, the development of new ones, and the continuous upgrading of the work environment.

In line with this ethos, the Group launched iCare in 2018. iCare is CareMalta’s excellence training programme for its employees based on three core values: the language of Professionalism, Engagement, and Compassion.

“Together with the residents, the employees are our greatest asset and that is why we continuously focus on ways to develop the skills of our employees who will ultimately support the company’s goals,” stated Mr Sciriha.

Care Malta Group today cares for over 1,600 residents and employs a workforce of over 1,300 highly dedicated and well-trained personnel.
