Gastronomic award-winner, Bahia, has announced that it will be forced to close for the month of January, as its relocation to a new location within Villa Corinthia has been held back by “challenging” global shipping conditions which have made opening the new location in time “unachievable.”
Announcing the closure on social media, the popular Michelin-starred establishment reassured its supporters “we tried our best.”
Its Lija outlet will remain open in November and December, and will close in January. The Attard location's launch has now been pushed back to February 2022, leaving restaurant entirely closed for the month of January.
“Whilst we are excited to enjoy our last festive season in Lija, we are really looking forward to welcoming guests to our new home early next year,” it said.
Bahia announced it would be moving from its historic converted townhouse in Lija to a new location on the upper floors of the renowned Villa Corinthia within Corinthia Palace in July.
“Change is challenging and the decision to move from the place where it all started was not an easy one,” remarked Colin Ciantar, owner of Bahia.
“Nevertheless, we have always pushed ourselves out of our comfort zone. Our meetings with the team at Corinthia highlighted that we shared similar values and, considering its history, the idea of moving to the Villa upstairs was also very intriguing.”
