Attard restaurant Terroir announced it is closing its doors, only a week after its Michelin recommendation was confirmed.

Terroir was set up by Chef Patron Andre Borg and his brother-in-law Nicholas Grima as a rustic and romantic restaurant which focused on local and Mediterranean cuisine.

Chef Borg is a young yet experienced chef who has worked as a commis chef in several Gordon Ramsay-owned restaurants in London, served as Sous Chef at The Orangery Restaurant in Darlington, and also competed on MasterChef UK.

Upon returning to Malta, he co-founded Terroir with his brother-in-law Nicholas Grima, an experienced server who used to work as head server at several five-star hotels in Malta.

Their restaurant was recommended in three successive Michelin Guides, including the 2026 version that was published only a week ago.

However, it has now shut its doors.

“Today marks our final day of service,” the restaurant said yesterday.

"From the very beginning, your support, trust, and shared moments at our table have meant everything to us. Every visit, every conversation, every memory has been part of this journey.”

“We thank each and every one of our esteemed guests for being part of our story. Your presence has been our greatest reward. Goodbye for now, and with sincere gratitude.”
