Atlassian Team yearly conferences aim to bring together users, partners, and industry leaders to explore developments in teamwork, collaboration, and Atlassian products. This year, the Atlassian Team'24 Europe conference took place in Barcelona from the 8th to the 10th October 2024. The spotlight was on teamwork innovation and collaboration tools, focusing on AI and transforming teamwork through Atlassian’s philosophy of “a system of work.”

At Team’24 Europe, Samuel D. Acheampong, the Sales Team Lead from Ghana, and Lucille Cachia, the Business Development Manager from Malta, attended on behalf of onpoint Ltd to gain valuable insights and use what they have learnt to benefit the whole team as well as their clients. For Samuel, who is from Ghana, the trip was an exceptional opportunity to engage with Atlassian’s European community and experience a new kind of international collaboration. "It was my first time attending an Atlassian major conference in Europe," Samuel noted.

Lucille, flying in from Malta, had her own unique experience. Everything was set last minute with a message from her boss early in the morning: "I know it’s short notice, but would you be interested to join the Atlassian Team’24 Europe Conference in Barcelona?" she was asked. "It was very unplanned, yet we made it. Atlassian is all about being agile. So indeed, I had to be agile to make it to the conference," she added with a laugh. For both, the journey was more than just a regular business trip - it was the start of an exciting adventure.

Conference day: The adventure begins

Upon arriving at Team’24 Europe, the excitement and the energy were immediately palpable. “Everyone at the venue was really open for conversations and connections,” Samuel states. And even though the place was huge and overflowing with people from all parts of the world, the atmosphere was warm, everyone felt connected and had no hesitation to start conversations with fellow colleagues. Lucille mentions that “there was nothing to complain about, because it was so smooth." It was well organised, and every detail was taken care of.

When asked about the key highlights from the event that stood out from the 3-day conference, Samuel reflects on the keynote speech from the first day that was delivered by Arsène Wenger, where he shared his experience as a leader in football. He made a statement that was truly inspiring: “Be reflective to be effective.”

Lucille had her own “pinch-me” moment, the experience of witnessing this conference in person was very special. “I always watch them online on YouTube, and you see these guys presenting on a big stage,” she remembered. It was a truly holistic experience, where they were able to learn more about the products and witness a first-hand demo, which helped them to better understand what the products are all about.

The major announcements: Rovo what?

Team’24 was full of new exciting features and upgrades that promise a significant impact on how people work. The Rovo agent was the major highlight, as it will really change the way teams work. “The ability to build agents to store particular issues that may be difficult or repetitive and to have as many agents as you want. I think that's the major thing for me.” Samuel confirmed.

Also, one of the keynotes that stood out was the one on governance, risk, and compliance solutions. It leveraged on the asset management properties and articulated the possibilities of JIRA being a platform and also dealt with asset management and other third-party tools.

During the three-day conference, a panel discussion worth mentioning due to its significance to Maltese companies was held on DORA regulations, and highlighted the importance of digital resilience in the financial sector. DORA, Lucille explains, “will be effective as of January 2025, and mandates financial institutions to enhance incident reporting, resilience testing, and manage ICT risks.

"And the good thing is that now Atlassian and one of our current partners can significantly aid in compliance by providing tools for risk management and secure data handling through quick insights into asset dependencies and the impact of risk when incidents occur.”

The announcements shared in the Team'24 Europe conference align perfectly with the current pain points of enterprises and organisations, especially those dealing with siloed tools and siloed information, majoring on the fact that operation teams use different tools, whereas leaders want to see the story and the workflows between all the tools. Now, with Atlassian, there is high connectivity between all the different tools, which helps in better decision-making and data accessibility, which, by the end, makes organisations have better control over the flow of work.

Barcelona bliss: Relaxing after the conference

Of course, no trip to Barcelona would be complete without a little fun. Once the conference was over, both Samuel and Lucille took advantage of their location and enjoyed their time there, from sampling the good food to exploring the marvellous historical places around the city. Everything was “on point.” Heading out of Atlassian Team’24 Europe, Lucille and Samuel left Barcelona with hearts full of energy, inspiration and a joyful anticipation for what is next to come.

And so, with Atlassian Team’24 Europe behind them, Samuel and Lucille returned home ready to bring new tools and fresh ideas to their colleagues. Here’s to the adventures ahead, as onpoint Ltd continues to build a more connected, agile, and efficient way of working.
