The culinary scene in Malta is abuzz with excitement as the 2025 Michelin Guide for local restaurants is expected to be announced this Wednesday (tomorrow).
Food enthusiasts and industry professionals are anticipating the inclusion of more restaurants, with additional restaurants in Sliema, Valletta, and Gozo, amongst other areas, expected to make it to the 2025 list.
Notably, a new restaurant that opened last year is rumoured to make its debut in this year's esteemed list.
Reflecting on the 2024 Michelin Guide, Malta celebrated its first two-star accolade with ION Harbour by Simon Rogan in Valletta. The one-star establishments included Bahia (Balzan), De Mondion (Mdina), Fernandõ Gastrotheque (Sliema), Noni (Valletta), Under Grain (Valletta), and Rosamì (St Julian's). The Bib Gourmand category featured Grain Street (Valletta), Terrone (Birgu), Rubino (Valletta), Commando (Mellieħa), and AYU (Gżira).
However, the dynamic nature of the restaurant industry brings changes; Briju in Gżira, previously recommended by Michelin, has recently closed its doors.
As the 2025 announcements approach, the Maltese gastronomic community awaits with bated breath to see which establishments will be honoured, marking another milestone in Malta's evolving culinary journey.
