At the Malta Amateur Athletics Association’s Annual General Meeting held last Friday, Andy Grech was approved as the new president.
Mr Grech previously represented Malta as a sprinter and a long-jumper and was the only candidate for the post after the MAAA’s former president, Edwin Attard, did not place his nomination to extend his term by a further 10 years.
Ray Scicluna has been appointed the new general secretary, while Anthony Chircop will occupy the role of treasurer.
Taking to Facebook, the MAAA’s new president said he was “very honoured and privileged to lead local athletics.
“I have no doubts that together with my new council, we can take a giant leap forward (pun intended)”
The Maltese clubs eligible to vote in Friday’s meeting were La Salle Athletics club, Savio Athletics Club, Pembroke Athleta Athletics club, Rush Athletics, Mellieha Athletics club and St Patrick Athletics club with two votes each.
