Air Malta came in at third place for ‘Best Regional Airline in Europe’ and 10th best for the ‘Best Regional Airline in the World’ category at the Skytrax World Airline Awards 2021.
Malta’s national carrier was also voted the fifth best airline in southern Europe.
Thanks to the positive performance at the prestigious awards, Air Malta climbed seven places to reach 80th out of 350 airlines included in the survey results.
The Skytrax awards are the global benchmark of airline excellence and the primary benchmarking tool for passenger satisfaction levels of airlines throughout the world.
Commenting on these results, Air Malta’s Executive Chairman David G Curmi said, “It’s great to see these positive achievements in this challenging environment. Such results give us confidence that we are on the right track to improve our customer experience both onboard our flights as well as on the ground. I wish to thank all staff who have positively contributed to these results and are working tirelessly especially during these challenging times.”
The survey was conducted online between September 2019 and July 2021 with 13.42 million eligible survey entries completed, across a range of topics. The survey covered full-service and low-cost airlines and measured standards across 68 key performance indicators of airline front-line product and service. Over 100 different nationalities participated in the survey covering world airlines from largest international airlines to smaller domestic carriers.
