When Johann Saliba first set up Top Technix nearly 25 years ago, his vision was to build a company that does more than sell audio and video (AV) equipment. Today, that vision has seen Top Technix become not just a supplier but a trusted partner for clients across Malta seeking the very latest, end-to-end audio-visual solutions.

From bars, clubs, restaurants, and offices, to schools, businesses, and large national institutions, Top Technix is known not only for the quality of its products but also for the comprehensive service package that accompanies them.

“It’s not just about the sale,” Johann says, when asked what makes Top Technix the first choice for so many clients in Malta. “We take care of the entire journey, from initial consultation, understanding the client’s needs, importation of the required equipment, to installation, and most importantly, after-sales service. That is how we ensure that our clients are fully supported.”

This all-encompassing approach has allowed the company to grow steadily. Top Technix has not only adapted to the incredible shifts that have taken place in the audio-visual world over recent decades but also stepped up to the evolving demands of clients. All the while maintaining the personal touch Johann prides himself on.

Today, Top Technix employs a small team of highly specialised professionals, who lend their expert advice to clients, making sure that every setup fits the needs of the specific context. However, it’s not the first time that Johann himself rolls up his sleeves and joins in on the action.

“While most of my time is now spent running the company, I still join installation efforts – especially during unusually large-scale projects that require significant coordination,” he says.

Top Technix has long been at the forefront of introducing new audio-visual technologies to Malta. The company was among the first locally to introduce AV over IP systems, allowing audio and video to be distributed seamlessly over networks. Such customised systems, controlled entirely from a tablet or mobile device, make it possible for users to switch between multiple inputs, outputs and displays at the touch of a button, simplifying complex setups into intuitive solutions.

“We have showcased this innovative edge in numerous projects, from small-scale set-ups in hospitality venues to large and demanding installations. One standout project we are especially proud of is the creation of a fully equipped control room showcasing one of the largest Videowall on the island for the Armed Forces of Malta in Luqa which gave us immense satisfaction when deployed. The client was more than satisfied,” Johann recalls.

“It was one of those moments that really validated the years of dedication we put into keeping up with the latest technologies,” Johann reflects, noting the installation was so ground-breaking that Top Technix’s international suppliers used it in their own marketing.

The company also delivers high-impact solutions such as video walls, digital signage systems, AV networks, and PA systems which are increasingly sought after in sectors like retail, corporate offices, and education. Recent projects include the installation of advanced audio-visual lighting systems in the main hall of a school in Msida, once again underlining the versatility of Top Technix.

One of the cornerstones of Top Technix’s success is its close relationship with international suppliers, who are themselves leaders in audio-visual technology. In fact, Johann and his team often undergo extensive training for the installation and servicing of the latest products. This ensures that every project meets extremely specialised international standards.

Such demands mean that the Top Technix team is constantly updating its knowledge, staying ahead of industry trends, and bringing global-level expertise to the Maltese market.

The company also works hand in hand with designers, architects, and consultants, offering expert advice to ensure that each installation integrates seamlessly into the client’s space. Whether that means enhancing the ambience of a restaurant with subtle audio-visual cues or providing the robust infrastructure needed for a mission-critical control room.

“We’re always on the lookout for new technology, and we work with suppliers who are right at the forefront. That way, our clients can always expect us to deliver the most advanced solutions available,” Johann concludes.
