Pierre Attard, a seasoned logistics professional, has garnered almost 30 years of international experience with multinational transport companies FedEx and CMA CGM.

Thanks to his professional history, Pierre shares that the various facets of operating in a global shipping environment have become an integral part of his work ethic.

“As Commercial Manager for Malta, the role encompasses the management and growth of the local market as well sustaining competitive services to and from Malta,” he tells WhosWho.mt.

“Managing the linkages between the local demand for space on our vessels, covering import and export trade, with the capacity available on the various services at competitive rates is both challenging and rewarding.”

Another challenge, Pierre elaborates, is countering the myth that Malta is served locally as an after-thought to the main transhipment services using ‘small’ feeder vessels.

“Malta is not only one of the Group’s global hubs but also the hub for the whole of the Mediterranean basis.”

Consequently, he adds, cargo destined for Malta can arrive on vessels with a capacity of 2,000 twenty foot containers or vessels with a capacity up to 24,000 twenty foot containers.

“These vessels are by no means considered to be small.”

Pierre is also the Vice Chairman of the Logistics and Supply Chain Business Section of The Malta Chamber, as well as a committee member of the Association of Ship Agents.
