Mario Brincat plays a key role at TradeMalta, where he supports management and colleagues, producing informed analysis and generating insights into national and international trends relevant to the organisation’s mission and its clients’ interests.
Dr Brincat has done extensive research on Malta’s economic development in the 20th century, particularly about the role of exports and of Foreign Direct Investment. He also authored a book marking the 50th anniversary of the Malta Development Corporation/Malta Enterprise, chronicling its history and evolution.
For several years Dr Brincat served as a visiting lecturer at the University of Malta, where he most recently delivered courses on the economic history of Malta in the 19th and 20th centuries, as well as on Maltese industry. Besides his long experience at MDC / Malta Enterprise he has also spent extended periods at the Customs Department and on the staff of the Special Commissioner for Economic, Financial and Trade Relations with the UK.
