Joseph Chetcuti has been working in the shipping and the maritime sector for the past 33 years, including 30 years with the Ripard Group of Companies.

“I have been involved practically across all departments, commencing with accounting with the Line, internal accounting and administration and then moving forward to IT, human resources and commercial matters,” he says.

John Ripard & Son Ltd, or Ripard Shipping, was set up in 1901 as the agent for Prince Line Ltd. In the mid-1970s, it was the first shipping agent to introduce containerisation in Malta as the agents for Manchester Liners and, in 1990, was instrumental in making global container line Norasia to use Malta as a Mediterranean hub with direct calls to/from Northern Europe, Mediterranean and the Far East.

Ripard Shipping is the official shipping agent for MSC, the world’s second largest container shipping line.
