After reading for a B.E.&A (Hons) in architecture at the University of Malta, and an MA in Urban Design at Oxford Brookes University, UK, Jacques Borg Barthet undertook research for a number of years in governance for green infrastructure as a foundation for urban and regional competitiveness.

“My working background involves experience across a breadth of architectural education and practice from public space awareness workshops to large-scale urban projects,” he shares with WhosWho.mt.

Jacques is Director of Practice at AP Valletta, an architecture and design practice with over 30 years’ experience, renowned for its contributions to sustainable heritage.

“We provide a wide range of services from valuation and feasibility consultancy through to master planning and urban design, architecture, interior design services, restoration, structural and civil engineering, and sustainability.”

This breadth of experience across the sector allows AP a pragmatic understanding of the factors required to provide successful lasting projects. The company believes that sustainability starts from recognising the huge amount of energy involved in the production of buildings and that intervention in the built environment, be it on existing or new projects, should ensure that buildings can perform well environmentally and be adaptable over time, while providing lasting beauty and value to their users and owners.

“We recognise the importance of the quality of the built environment to wellbeing and want to ensure that the projects we are involved with make a positive contribution to the spatial and environmental conditions in which people live and work.”
