George Vella is the Head of Advisory at Grant Thornton Malta, where he leads a team of financial professionals recognised for their expertise in Malta’s capital markets. Under his leadership, the firm acts as an accredited external reviewer under the Malta Stock Exchange (MSE) Green Bond Bye-Laws and is consistently ranked among the top Corporate Advisers under the Prospects MTF rules.

Mr Vella oversees Grant Thornton’s business consultancy arm, which delivers specialised services in sustainable finance, economic advisory, business process re-engineering, and public sector advisory. He also manages teams with strong capabilities in governance, risk and compliance, and financial risk quantification – offering solutions that are highly sought after by regulated entities, financial institutions, and fintech companies.

"In addition to my role at Grant Thornton, I also serves as Chairman of FinanceMalta," says Mr Vella. "I am also a member of the Malta Financial Advisory Council, where I contribute to shaping financial services policy and promoting Malta as an international financial centre."

He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Accountancy from the University of Malta, a Master’s in Business Administration, and is a certified Information Systems Auditor.
